  • "Human beings are more alike than unalike, and what is true anywhere is true everywhere, yet I encourage travel to as many destinations as possible...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples laugh, cry, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends" - Maya Angelou

  • Parents' Surprise!

So yesterday we drove back to Longmeadow from Boston, and when we phoned our parents to say we're on the way, they said they had a Surprise!  A "surprise"?!  our parents never have surprises! What could it be? we wondered....a new car??...they actually got grandma to come to Longmeadow??....did they bring our old cat back to visit??...well I was the closest with the latter guess, but it was something we'd never would have predicted...after having 2 cats, multiple hamsters, we now have 2 parakeets!

I want our green one to get as fat as this one! We got one green male and one blue female.  Here are some fun facts about parakeets I found amusing:

-Contrary to historical beliefs, modern literature agrees that budgerigars should never be kept single as this can cause serious harm to the bird both physically and psychologically

-Why does my Parakeet Spit Up Food?
This is the ultimate compliment a parakeet can give... If your parakeet is regurgitating food for you, it is the parakeet's way of saying he loves you.

-Budgerigars each have their own unique ideas about how much they like to be handled, which toys are their favourites, and even what music they like or are indifferent to.

-Care should be taken when placing several female budgies together, as they can do serious harm to one another if they do not get along. It is easier and often more convenient to keep either an even number of both males and females or to only keep male birds altogether as these generally get along with each other without any problem

-a little more on the sad side, but kinda intriguing: Why do some Budgies die Earlier?
There is also a window of time where a budgie might develop a tumor. If a parakeet starts acting poorly around age 5-7 it is probably a tumor. Take your bird to a vet if you notice its breastbone sticking out or that the bird has trouble sitting on its perch. If your bird makes it through this period it will probably live a long life and die of old age.

we dont have names for them yet, I thought itd be cute to call them "tweetle-dee" and "tweetle-dum" hehe! ;)

  • End of Semester 1

Sorry I've been so MIA, I have been terrible at keeping in touch w/ friends and family in general this semester, blah! Well now that its over, feel free to contact me and lets hang out and have some fun! (for the next 2 wks, then I must start classes yet again at the beginning of January).  Its been a pretty decent semester so far, I hopefully did well in all my classes, alot of busy work, but no all-nighters pulled yet.  Classes were convenient too as they were only Mon-Wed, so I spent Wed night-Sun at Evans place...so nice to spend time with him, and in a heated, clean (though he would beg to differ b/c of the mess I make, sorry honey!) apt!

Yup thats right, I kinda took the liberty to transfer most of my jewelry making business to his apartment!  Things with that were really slow at first, then all of a sudden people started to slowly buy...I mean I'm not like many sellers who make 10+ a day, but hey its been great so far, I cant complain! I think its probably the holiday rush for gifts, but lets hope not.  I just started this new line of glass pendant necklaces, which have been the most popular, lets hope i made them well so people will love them!

If you're interested in anything, let me know I can explain to you how the process works.  But the basics are just Register for a username/password, click on the item you want to "add to your cart" then check out.  You can then say where you want it mailed to, and then pay either using PayPal (you can use your creditcard through paypal too) or mail me a personal check.  But feel free to ask me any questions!

About Me

  • I went into the world looking for my ideals outside myself, when I realized that it is not what the world holds for you, it is what you bring to it. -Anne from "Anne of Avonlea"
